In 1979, the Portland City Council founded a nonprofit corporation called Portland Energy Conservation, Inc. to carry out the country’s first energy conservation policy.
Over 35 years (and one name change, to the shorter, sweeter PECI), we have evolved and grown as necessary to help communities across the country identify ways to meet the future and promote growth and independence. We see energy projects as a means to not only make electrons, but to satisfy workforce development, technology training and other community values.
